The folk of Bloomsbury and Holborn parishes relaxed with a spot of whippet racing well into the 1800’s. Post racing the locals drank ales from small breweries and ate scrumptious coal grilled meats.

This all came to an end with the Great Bloomsbury Beer Flood of 1814. Pubs and restaurants closed, people moved away and the chains started to move in ripping the soul out of the area.

The new Holborn Whippet, on the beautiful Sicilian Avenue is a step forward and a victory for independents.

We stock only small craft breweries, quality wines and a super Lunch & Diner menu.
